Feeling: The feeling from this drum brings calm, cheer, bliss, and upliftment. The Mixotonic scales are among our most cheerful & most popular scales. While the 9 notes on the drum remain the same, it's unique because the combinations truly feel varied. So you don't really tire of hearing it.

Scale Overview: The specific notes are what makes this Mixotonic scale uniquely recognizable & gives the sounds of the drum an overall feeling. If the spacing or interval of the notes remains the same but the lowest note is made to sound higher or lower, then the key changes up or down, but the scale & overall feeling remains recognizably the same.

Playability: As with all Manastone steel tongue drums, all the notes are in a specially selected scale. That means it's in perfect harmony with itself, so it's easy to make it sound good. The scale of this drum is one of the most playable scales because it is all in a major scale, meaning any combination of notes, or chords, is going to sound just right if not perfect. We created this drum for a truly harmonic experience that does not get old. 

Design & Sound Characteristics: We offer a handcrafted instrument of beauty rich in sound & sight. Manastone drums are unique in the quality of craftsmanship seen in the drum's design & sound. The Manastone is designed with a taller chamber & the hole on top resulting in a richer acoustic tone, louder sound & wider range of notes than manufactured steel tongue drums. This full sound resonates with rich harmonic layers & volume that carries indoors & outside & pairs well with a wide variety of instruments. You get the attributes of a larger handpan but in a smaller, more portable & less-expensive instrument. Value meets master craftsmanship.

Options to Float, Resonate, Hole Location, & Electric Hookup: 

Floating: We are the makers of the world's first floating steel tongue drum (to our knowledge!) and we are able to make yours capable of floating if you select the hole to be on top of the drum and choose a chameleon finish. Tuning: You are also able to select tuning at 432hz if you prefer non-standard tuning, otherwise the default selection is 440hz. Hole Location: The default location for the hole is on top because this offers more volume and clearer sound. However, many people prefer their instrument to be quieter and in this case you can select at check-out for the hole to be on the bottom. A floating drum must have the hole on the top to float as well as a chameleon finish. Electric hookup: We are able to add a hookup to the side of your drum.

Fun Facts: The F Mixotonic scale is the same as the F Big Bear but with a major third, a half-step down. F is considered by sound-healers to be "heart-opening". This is the same scale that was used in the Grateful Dead Song "Fire on the Mountain".

All Manastone Steel Tongue Drums made of tone tempered steel and sealed with a powder coat finish that is very tough, UV resistant, weather resistant and doesn’t pollute the environment or outgas like other paints.

Size - 12 inch diameter X  8 inches tall, able to sit comfortably in your lap.
